American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 7:30 am–1:30 pm. Berkeley is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Berkeley follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The bagels are always fresh and good. I buy the Everything bagel and I make my famous cheese scrambled eggs with avocado and tomato. Absolutely πŸ˜‹

Went during the afternoon when there were no lines and received my bagel right away. My lox and cream cheese bagel was quite good albeit a tad salty from the fish. A bit more onion might have done the trick. At over $17 for just the bagel, it was certainly an extravagant experience. There’s a very small amount of indoor counter seating, but otherwise you’re taking your bagel to go.

This was my first visit to this obviously very popular bagel shop, I wish I had been forewarned other than being told this was the best bagel shop in or near Oakland. First it was difficult to find parking near the shop, I eventually found parking on a side street 5 minutes away, then when I got to the location there was a line of 6 or 8 people waiting patiently in the cold to place an order to a person with a computer and remote credit card terminal sitting outside the left side of the front door of the restaurant. No customers were being allowed into the shop. As the line continued to grow longer a second remote ordering station was added on the right of the front door. Orders were taken at these terminals and then fulfilled and brought out of the front door to waiting customers. Perhaps they had a flood or a fire in the restaurant so they were staying open as best they could, but there were no signs of anything except people waiting. Ah yes, the bagels. Yes, they were good and the choice of fillings we’re very good, but I cannot say they are that much better than a coffee shop closer than a 20 minute drive where I can sit down and drink a cappuccino while waiting for my bagel to

Boichik Bagels is worth a visit as long as you enjoy take out & customizing options. This bagel shop popped up onto my Google search when looking for an option to get a quick breakfast sandwich. This bagel shop is located on a busy road with a handful of other shops nearby. I cannot speak on parking as I walked from my hotel to their storefront. When you arrive, there is a menu out front & someone taking orders. I asked if I was able to go inside & she politely declined. I stepped back & let others order ahead of me because I wasn't sure what I wanted. After a quick glimpse, I just decided to go with an easy standard order of an everything bagel with regular schmear. Once received, I noticed there wasn't anywhere to sit nearby so I walked down the street a bit to give some space for other customers. The bagel itself was solid. It tasted fresh & it was heavily loaded with schmear which is the way I personally enjoy it. The total cost before tax for this item was $4.50 so something to consider but I felt it was worth the value for the quality that I received. My only problem was that I had nowhere to sit in the area so I kept dropping schmear on the ground while trying to eat &

I finally understand what the hype and awards are about when it comes to Boichik Bagels, this place was delicious! The bagel quality here definitely matches those on the east coast so I’m glad to have found a local bagel spot for the future. I came on a weekend morning and as expected there was a line and a bit of a wait but it wasn’t too bad. They set the shop up so that you ordered and waited outside for food only. Definitely recommend the classic sandwich if you’re hungry. It’s a traditional lox and cream cheese bagel. However next time I visit I would probably just buy a few plain bagels and a tub of cream cheese instead as it’s more economical. The bagel was nicely chewy on the inside and toasty on the outside as you want. I wish it were a little bigger but quality over quantity here. My new go to for bagels in the Bay Area and it’s in one of my favorite little shopping areas!
